(What's interesting about this case is that the Chinese scientist wanted to create a baby (he genetically engineered two babies actually) that would be naturally resistant to HIV, as I recall reading this case prior. The gene that enabled survival of some Europeans during the plague or Black Death of the middle ages- delta32, is the same gene that is HIV resistant. This is why some humans get HIV and never develop AIDS and others are HIV resistant. One copy of delta32 from one parent and you're a carrier of HIV. One copy from both parents and you're resistant. This gene is found in highest concentration in northern Europe
They found that this gene was also responsible for quick and efficient processing of information and learning. I always wondered if the scientists got in trouble for simply genetically engineering human beings....or if the punishment was for creating living proof of advanced higher intelligence and learning ability connected to genes that are associated with specific people in geographical locations.

This is the most balanced and fair article on this I've read. It's interesting that there's marked lack of research on how this gene relates to dependencies as in addiction. As if perhaps there's some agenda to not deal with that issue and find a solution for it. Like maybe if you could sort of ensure that there's never a cure for cancer, you can keep making money off of human misery. (Hey I'm realistic about disease as a necessity to keep population down. But addiction is worse than that and it's a horrible waste of life. If addicts only knew travel is a cure for addiction, it would make so many lives better while they are alive. But then....various groups would not make money off of human misery. Like the drug epidemic going on today. )
Basically it seems that if Nature provides some humans with genetic variants and they express themselves in a way that clashes with the modern world and it's outdated, archaic systems then why should the human beings themselves suffer or be punished or medicated for expressing genes naturally just becuz they are not in line with mainstream or popular culture?
ADHD is just one example, drug addiction is another.
Psychiatry in its current form is no longer to help people but to control them, for social control even for punitive use for political purposes. There's too much money involved and too many powerful drug companies. The odds that it's all for the greater good and of a philanthropic nature are very low.
The other issues are growing technologies that are now major environmental and health concerns that are not even being considered as such any longer by a population now completely sucked into the corporatocracy as a culture.
Our world is anything but sane. It never was that way but to act as if some grand new future is on the horizon when it's the same old games is the same mistake repeated by multiple past generations.
The first driver-less car, tested by Uber-has already killed one human being. (Ironically, a homeless woman who was crossing the street at night carelessly). The video of the accident is chilling. There's a marked lack of reaction or remorse recorded, becuz the navigation was done by computer. That must be similar to what a drone strike kill looks like-no remorse or human response to taking another human life.
The carelessness and gross negligence of an inmately stupid person who was an employee who was supposed to be monitoring the computer's navigation from the passenger side but was caught on camera watching a reality show on their phone instead, and is seen expressing horror at the sight of a person in front of the car right before impact-is just like humanity right now.

The employee got charged. UBER DID NOT. And that's setting a dangerous prescedent for the future of a human world living alongside automation.
Avoiding our responsibilities in monitoring our creations and our interferences with Nature's designs and systems. Blissfully unaware, consuming whatever is put in front of us, not understanding our position of responsibility nor the dangers we are facing. And only upon final impact for one short moment will we realize what we've done, when our stupidity destroys our species.
So...that being said, like I said in the video I feel I have a sort of obligation to fulfill in creating awareness....if only so I can die with a clear conscience. So me stopping my writing etc isn't going to happen.
